Modicon STB I/O Density and Bus Integration

The STBDDO3705 provides 16 discrete solid-state source channels within the Modicon STB distributed I/O architecture. The module receives its logic-side supply through the distributed I/O system and connects to the field-side power distribution through the STBPDT3100 or STBPDT3105 power distribution module.

The 16-channel arrangement allows multiple actuator outputs to be grouped within a single distributed I/O segment. Individual green OUT indicators provide direct channel status indication, while the RDY indicator provides module status information.

The output stage incorporates short-circuit, thermal overload, reverse polarity, and integrated PDM fuse protection. Electrical isolation between the channels and logic bus is specified at 1500 V for 1 minute.

The module is compatible with Modicon M262, Modicon M580, and third-party controller architectures through the applicable Modicon STB distributed I/O network configuration.

The STBDDO3705 is listed as to be discontinued on December 1, 2027, with end-of-service scheduled for December 31, 2035. Schneider Electric identifies NTSDDO1602XK as its replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the maximum current for each STBDDO3705 output channel?
A: Each of the 16 solid-state source outputs supports up to 500 mA.

Q: What isolation is provided between the output channels and logic bus?
A: The specified isolation is 1500 V for 1 minute between the channels and the logic bus.

Q: What is the output response time?
A: The specified response time is 2 ms from off to on and 2 ms from on to off.

Field Installation Guidelines

Install the STBDDO3705 on the compatible Modicon STB I/O base and connect the field power distribution through the specified STBPDT3100 or STBPDT3105 power distribution module.

Verify that the field supply remains within the specified 19.2 to 30 VDC output voltage range. Confirm that the connected actuator load does not exceed the 500 mA channel rating.

Route output wiring separately from high-current switching conductors and high-noise power wiring where practical. Maintain appropriate separation between field wiring and communication or logic wiring.

Terminate cable shields according to the grounding scheme of the complete control system. Avoid creating unintended shield current paths between distributed I/O sections.

Before energizing the system, verify output polarity, actuator wiring, terminal tightness, and the intended source-output connection. Use the RDY and individual OUT indicators during commissioning to verify module and channel states.

Observe the specified 0 to 60 deg C operating range, IP20 enclosure requirement, and applicable IEC 61131-2 installation requirements.
