Industrial Drive Control and Network Interfaces

The ATV930D37Y6 provides motor control profiles for variable torque, optimized torque, and constant torque operation on asynchronous motors. Synchronous motor control includes permanent magnet and synchronous reluctance motor profiles. Acceleration and deceleration ramps are configurable as linear, S-shaped, U-shaped, or customized, with adjustment from 0.01 to 9999 s.

The drive exposes Modbus serial through a 2-wire RS-485 interface and provides Ethernet connectivity for Modbus TCP and EtherNet/IP at 10/100 Mbit/s. Modbus serial supports addresses 1 to 247, RTU framing, and configurable odd, even, or no parity.

The control interface includes eight programmable digital inputs, two pulse-capable inputs, three analog inputs, two analog outputs, three relay outputs, and Safe Torque Off inputs STOA and STOB. Digital inputs support IEC 61131-2 signal levels. Analog inputs accept voltage or current signals, while analog outputs can be configured for voltage or current operation.

Optional communication and interface modules can extend the platform with PROFIBUS DP V1, PROFINET, DeviceNet, EtherCAT, CANopen, Ethernet Powerlink, and additional digital or analog I/O. Encoder interface modules are available for digital encoder, analog encoder, and resolver feedback.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What motor types can the ATV930D37Y6 control?
A: The drive supports three-phase asynchronous motors and synchronous motors, including permanent magnet and synchronous reluctance motor profiles.

Q: What communication interfaces are provided by the standard drive?
A: The standard interfaces include Modbus serial over 2-wire RS-485, Modbus TCP over Ethernet, and EtherNet/IP over Ethernet. Optional communication modules provide additional fieldbus interfaces.

Q: Does the drive provide a Safe Torque Off function?
A: Yes. STOA and STOB inputs are provided for the Safe Torque Off function. The supplied specifications also identify Safe Stop 1, Safely Limited Speed, and Safe Brake Management as supported safety functions.

Field Installation Guidelines

Mount the drive vertically within the specified +/- 10 deg operating position and provide the required clearance for forced or natural convection cooling. The specified cooling air volume is 406 m3/h where forced convection is used.

Connect line-side, motor, and DC bus conductors to their designated screw terminals. The supplied specifications identify 16 to 50 mm2 conductors for the line, motor, and DC bus terminals and 0.5 to 1.5 mm2 conductors for control terminals.

Separate power conductors from low-level analog, communication, and feedback wiring to reduce conducted and radiated interference. Use appropriate shield termination for analog and communication cables according to the installation manual and the selected network topology.

Verify the supply voltage, phase configuration, protective devices, motor wiring, grounding, and control-terminal assignments before energization. STOA and STOB wiring should be checked against the applicable safety circuit design before the drive is enabled.

Observe the specified ambient temperature and altitude limits. Apply the manufacturer's current derating requirements for operation above 50 deg C or above 1000 m altitude.

The supplied data identifies an integrated EMC filter and isolation between power and control terminals. The final installation should maintain the prescribed protective-earth and EMC bonding arrangements.
