MTL4016

Overview

MTL4016 is a dual-channel interface unit for switches and proximity detectors, designed for hazardous locations.

Channel & Location Ratings

• Number of Channels: Two

• Switch Location: Zone 0, IIC, T6 hazardous area; Div.1, Group A

• Proximity Detector Location: Zone 0, IIC, T4–6 if certified; Div.1, Group A

Sensor & Signal Characteristics

• Voltage to Sensor: 7.0–9.0 V DC from 1kΩ

• Output Behavior:
   • Closed if >2.1 mA (<2 kΩ)
   • Open if <1.2 mA (>10 kΩ)

• Hysteresis: 200 µA (650 Ω) nominal

• Phase Reversal: Independent switches for each channel

Fault Detection & Protection

• Line Fault Detection (LFD): Outputs open if input current <100 µA (broken) or >6.5 mA (short)

• Earth Fault Protection: ‘No-fail’ with MTL4220 leakage detector connected to terminals 3 & 6

• Fault Handling: Fault on any line triggers output but unit remains operational

Relay Output

• Type: Double-pole on/off, open when de-energized

• Response Time: max 2 ms

• Contact Rating: 10 W, 0.5 A, 35 V DC

• Contact Life: 1 million operations max load

• Channel LED: Amber, ON when output closed
