Yokogawa and ASTAR Unite to Accelerate Climate Tech and Decarbonisation in Manufacturing

Strategic Alliance for Climate Innovation

Yokogawa has entered into a Master Research Collaboration Agreement (MRCA) with A*STAR, Singapore, for exploring advanced climate technologies. The partnership deals with the development of next-generation process manufacturing through sensing and measurement, as well as control and automation.

By combining their strengths, the two organizations aim to develop solutions that reduce emissions, optimize operations, and enhance energy efficiency—critical steps toward decarbonizing sectors such as oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Accelerating Industry Adoption

One of the key objectives of this collaboration will be the early adoption of more sustainable technologies. Hence, Yokogawa and A*STAR will co-develop and scale solutions with innovative partners for real-world industrial deployment.

In addition, the partnership is intended to bring process automation up to date through open, interoperable, and modular systems. These technologies will enable industries to migrate to smarter, more autonomous operations, targeting deployment across Singapore's industrial clusters and the broader Southeast Asia region.

Turning Innovation into Impact

"We are bridging the gap from ideation to commercialization with AI-powered and data-driven technologies that improve operational efficiency while reducing carbon emissions," said Mr. Chay Kin Wah, President and CEO of Yokogawa Engineering Asia. "This collaboration strengthens our commitment towards helping customers across Asia achieve their goals in sustainability and building future-proof resilient operations by turning innovation into impact.

With more than 110 years of experience and a strong regional presence in Southeast Asia, Oceania, and Taiwan, Yokogawa has continued to deliver automation and control solutions in the energy, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. In Singapore, its Co-Innovation Centre and newly launched Sustainability Incubation Hub are driving R&D in AI, IoT, data analytics, and clean technology—reinforcing its 51-year commitment to the innovation ecosystem of the region.

A Shared Vision for Net Zero

"ASTAR works closely with global technology leaders like Yokogawa to translate innovation into real-world industrial impact," said Dr. Lim Keng Hui, Assistant Chief Executive of the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) at ASTAR. "We combine A*STAR's multi-disciplinary strengths with Yokogawa's deep industry expertise and strong innovation presence in Singapore. We hope to co-develop solutions to help companies reduce emissions, improve efficiency, and accelerate their journey toward net zero.
