A Partnership Built on Two Decades of Trust
Baker Hughes has announced a significant 13-year service agreement with Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) that extends a collaboration already two decades strong. This is not merely a contractual renewal; rather, it is a testament to a relationship built on reliability, technical expertise, and mutual respect. The agreement will specifically support the operational performance of NLNG's new Train 7 project at the Bonny Island facility—a flagship expansion designed to increase total LNG production capacity from 22 to 30 million tons per annum (MTPA) upon completion. What makes this milestone particularly meaningful is that it reflects not just confidence in Baker Hughes' technology, but also a deep-seated belief in the company's ability to deliver sustained value over the long haul.
Comprehensive Services for Critical Equipment
Under the agreement, Baker Hughes will provide comprehensive lifecycle services for the turbomachinery equipment awarded in 2021. This includes four heavy-duty gas turbines and associated centrifugal compressors, along with two additional gas turbines dedicated to power generation. Beyond the hardware, however, the service scope extends to something equally vital: human expertise and digital intelligence. A local Baker Hughes engineering team will be stationed nearby, ready to respond to operational needs. In parallel, the iCenter™ digital services—powered by Cordant™—will enable remote monitoring and diagnostics, enhancing equipment reliability and availability. Consequently, NLNG gains not just a service provider, but a vigilant partner that can anticipate issues before they escalate, thereby minimizing downtime and maximizing production efficiency.

Local Impact and Global Ambition
This agreement resonates far beyond the technical specifications, touching upon Nigeria's broader energy ambitions. Adeleye Falade, Managing Director and CEO of Nigeria LNG Limited, captures this vision with genuine pride: "Utilizing Baker Hughes' industry-leading lifecycle services and digital expertise will help support the successful long-term operation of our Train 7 project. As we expand our production capacity, we are strengthening Nigeria's role as a competitive global energy supplier, creating greater economic value for our stakeholders, and supporting a practical energy transition through the delivery of lower-carbon energy solutions." His words highlight a crucial truth: this partnership is about more than gas—it is about empowering a nation to harness its proven reserves, create economic opportunities, and contribute to a more sustainable energy future.
A Shared Commitment to the Region
Maria Claudia Borras, Baker Hughes' Chief Growth & Experience Officer and interim Executive Vice President of Industrial & Energy Technology, echoes this sentiment with heartfelt conviction. She emphasizes that the agreement reinforces the strength of a long-standing collaboration and the company's unwavering commitment to the region. "Our advanced lifecycle services and regional expertise can help NLNG ensure efficient and reliable operations at its Bonny Island facility, while bolstering energy reliability as Nigeria continues to harness its proven gas reserves to meet growing global energy demands," she explains. Importantly, the work will be delivered through the Baker Hughes Service Center in Port Harcourt, Nigeria—a facility that employs local talent and provides a comprehensive range of lifecycle services. This approach ensures that expertise stays close to the operation, that local communities benefit directly, and that the partnership truly embodies a shared vision for sustainable, inclusive growth.
